This district runs along the old channel  of the river Drava - where the Drava used to run before the hydropower plant SD 1 was built. When it was built only enough water ran through the dam in Melje to sustain the environmental flow but now it increased a little. The most part of the channel is shallow (water is only up to 1 m deep) but there are some deeper places- the remains of time when the Drava ran untamed through its natural river channel.

Access to water is possible mostly on foot due to growing river vegetation but there are some places that can be reahed by car. You always need to pay attention to water levels, because if there is a sudden flow increase in the dam in Melje the water rises quickly and floods some lower areas along the Drava's channel.
