The RD Brežice manages 15 fishing districts. Recreational fishing is allowed on the following waters: The river Sava, the river Krka, the creek Pirošica (Sušica), the river Sotla, the river Bregana, the pond Opekarna, the gravel pits Vrbina 1, 2, 3 and 4, the gravel pit Boršt, the pond Prilipe, the pond Mokrice and the backwaters Cola and Topla struga. In rivers and creeks you can mostly find predatory fish (pikes and catfish)-many of them are first class specimens- and some cyprinids species(chubs, common nases, Danube roaches, barbels). The most famous gravel pits are the gravel pits Vrbina 1 and 2 where you can fish for more days in a row and are home to some first class specimens of carps and grass carps. The other gravel pits and ponds are mostly inhabitated by cyprinid species: carps, grass carps, common roaches, chubs as well as predatory fish pikes and catfish.
